Back of a group of volunteers

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our online support team.
Help Helps CIC supports people who feel confused, overwhelmed or unsure where to turn when facing challenges such as housing problems, immigration questions, benefits issues, job seeking difficulties, safeguarding concerns and general advice needs.

As a volunteer, you will help gather information, find reliable guidance online, and signpost clients to the correct departments or services. You don’t need to be an expert — full training is provided, and our team will support you at every step.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience, build confidence, improve your CV and make a meaningful difference to vulnerable individuals and families.

What Volunteers Do

Housing Advice Volunteer (Online)

You will help people facing issues like homelessness, eviction, disrepair, or temporary accommodation. This includes gathering information, helping clients understand what documents they need, searching for the right council pages, and preparing basic notes for our advisors. Training covers housing basics, how to use council and charity websites, and how to record information safely.

2

Immigration Information Volunteer (Online)

You will support clients with immigration enquiries by helping them find official guidance, identifying which forms or routes they may need, signposting to qualified advisers, and helping them organise documents for appointments. This role does not involve giving legal advice; training will teach you how to find reliable information and stay within safe boundaries.

3

Benefits & Universal Credit Volunteer (Online)

You’ll help people understand benefits such as Universal Credit, PIP and ESA by researching up-to-date information, explaining what evidence they may need, guiding them through online applications, and gathering key information for advisors. Training covers basic understanding of the benefits system and how to communicate simply and clearly.

4

Employment & Jobseeker Support Volunteer (Online)

You will help clients look for jobs, find training opportunities, create or update a basic CV, and signpost them to job centres or employability programmes. You will also support and encourage clients as they move towards employment. Training covers CV basics, job search skills, and how to support people in a positive, empowering way.

Training, Support and Progression

We do not expect you to know everything; we provide the training and guidance you need to volunteer confidently and safely.

As a volunteer with Help Helps CIC, you will receive:

  • Full training in housing, benefits, immigration signposting, safeguarding and general advice

  • Ongoing supervision and support from experienced advisors

  • Help developing skills in communication, note-taking, online research and client support

  • A reference or supporting letter for job and university applications (after a period of consistent volunteering)

  • Where possible, access to funded training and courses to help you progress in your career

This role is ideal for students, graduates, people returning to work, or anyone who wants to help their community while learning new skills.
